Educational & Research

Teaching
We offer diverse and flexible curriculums which are backed by 19 tenure-track faculty members (as of Spring 2009) and 16 instructional/research laboratories in three major categories: biomedical informatics, identification and information security, and emerging technology and management.

The department also initiates three inter-college academic programs (Information Security and Medical Application; RFID Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Bioinformatics and Information Management).  These three programs have intensive and application-oriented course design, aiming to broaden students’ practical experiences.

The coursework and research activities of the department are closely related to and supported by the Formosa Plastics Group (FPG) and the Chang Gung Group.

With continuing and substantial support from the Nation Science Council, Ministry of Education, Bureau of Economy, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and many other institutions and organizations, the faculty members of the department are engaged in innovative, in-depth, and quality teaching/research.

Research
The current research focus of the department includes:

1.      Biomedical informatics

2.      Identification technology and Information security

3.      Emerging technology and applications in management

The faculties actively involved in multi-disciplinary research projects in the fields of computer science, informatics, and management.
